The hospital management tool

Created on Thursday, 24 November 2016

This tool was initially allocated to partner SIVECO, but later it was redirected to partner KT in order to consolidate tools in the most efficient and practical way. The tool is supported by the ESRI database. It provides the ability to easily communicate with hospitals to obtain information on hospital capacity. Since it is linked to the map functionalities provided by ESRI, including notifications, as well as to the incident management tool provided by KT (team table), it aggregates very valuable information on all hospitals fitting the search criteria, no matter if they have joined the incident space or not. It allows a hospital summary view of capacity, seeing which hospital has joined and which not, inviting hospitals to join and referring patients (incl. providing patient e-form to hospitals). The information entered about type of specialties links to the semantic tool which can provide suggestions of matching referral diagnosis from the patient status information tool (ESRI) to the type of hospital specialty to which the patient should be referred, which again feeds into the decision support tool for allocation (UCY, VTT).

The concept of what the tool should do builds partially on existing hospital dashboard approaches. It was further developed by partner CUH, aiming to achieve an overview of more than just capacity information (for which the tool needs to link to user registration information in the database). Testing the concept with the initial mockups was performed by partner HRT.  The final design of the UI was a joint effort between KT and CUH.

One example for local customisation for hospital search via the map functionalities (ESRI) would be for the system to store the administrative boundaries of a group of hospitals, i.e. “search for all hospitals in municipality X”, which would help in situations where response must extend cross-boundary.
